Offensive Tools on your natural body is the topic for this 102nd Self-Defense Show!  In a related, yet flipped subject from last episode, we discuss many different ways you can use your bare hands, feet, and everything in between to cause injury to the assailant.  This is all for the ultimate purpose of escaping and surviving the violent assault brought against you.  We apologize up front for some interference we picked up while recording this.  I did my best to edit out most of the really bad stuff.  We have some really awesome shows coming up for the next several episodes!  Thanks for sticking with us during our dry spell.  We hope to continue bringing you good shows.  If you would like to donate a little bit to support the show, our PayPal address is VitalSelfDefense@mac.com

We are back, talking about vulnerable targets on an assailant’s body. Thanks for hanging in there with us through a long than expected break from the show. Christie and I really do appreciate all our loyal listeners out there. You guys are totally the reason we do the show... we would have quit a long time ago if it wasn’t for everyones heart-felt support. So in this episode (which was recorded in my car on my drive to and from work... sorry, no Christie this time) we discuss areas on the body that are particularly susceptible to injury, no matter how big and strong the assailant is. We start at the feet and work our way up the body towards the head. We are not necessarily talking about all the various ways to inflict harm / injury to those points, but more describing the tender targets themselves. If we forgot one, or we screwed up on something, please let us know. We LOVE interacting with our listeners!!! We will really try hard to keep up with the show now that we are back, but it will still be pretty hard with the production schedule we have with VITAL this year. And yes, the video episodes are coming soon too! So if you get a video file through our podcast feed (normally you would get an mp3 file), you know what’s up. Thanks so much everybody!!!

Part 3 of 3 - Forty Ground Getaway techniques. That’s right folks! We are diving deep into the topic of physical techniques that are useful when you are on the ground / laying down. Although we have mentioned a few techniques and tactics for floor fights in past episodes, we never really took the subject head-on. Now you will learn 40 techniques to survive and escape when horizontal / grounded. They are divided into 5 groupings. Damagers are numbers 1 through 11. Anti-strangle techniques are 12 through 16. 17 through 28 are Disengagements, and 29 through 35 are Takedowns. Finally, we talk about Shielding Ground techniques for numbers 36 through 40. This should represent a fairly comprehensive set of moves to use, although I’m sure someone could nit pick through and find a few more to add. Episode 097 has a lot of introductory and preface information about Ground Getaways in general. After all the setup talk, we only really get to talk about techniques 1 through 4. Episode 098 finishes the Damagers category, and takes us through all the Anti-strangle techniques. Episode 099 packs in the last 24 moves (techniques 17 through 40) and covers Disengagements, Takedowns, and Shielding. We apologize up front for some of the awkward explanations. It was very hard to verbal (audio only) describe some of the techniques, although I did my best. Sometimes a picture is worth 1,000 words. Thanks for listening to the show, Christie and I really appreciate it!!! IF YOU WOULD BE SO KIND AS TO SUPPORT THE SHOW WITH A SMALL DONATION, IT WOULD HELP CHRISTIE AND I OUT SO MUCH (YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW)!!! PAYPAL DONATIONS TO VitalSelfDefense@mac.com

Part 2 of 2 on damaging techniques. A continuation of episode 084, Charles discusses 3 Low Blows techniques and 3 Fierce Fingers techniques. If you haven’t listened to episode 084, make sure you check that out first. These 9 techniques (in episode 084 and 085) make up the bulk of what you will need to inflict violence and injury upon the person attacking you. The last part of this episode talks about VITAL Self-Defense’s plans to create and sell a modular DVD home study program. If you don’t want to hear about all that, stop listening around 40 minutes into the show. Please let us know what you think of the show!

Part 1 of 2 about damaging techniques. In this episode we discuss the Heavy Hitter techniques of Hammer, Palm, and Elbow. Although the physical fighting back techniques are NOT the most important topic in self-defense, they are valuable to learn about and a good addition to your self-defense portfolio. Charles is alone on this episode because Christie is visiting family down south. Please check out the next episode, show 085 for part 2 of 2 on the topic of damaging techniques. Feel free to contact us with any questions or comments. We always love hearing from our listeners!

At last!  Talk of physical resistance (offensive) techniques!!!  I know you all out there have been waiting for it.  Now, here it is.  After 68 previous episodes on all kinds of other violence protection issues, I feel there is finally enough in the can to go ahead and talk about this over emphasized subject.  Now it's in the correct proportion to the other topics covered.  1/69th of effective self-defense is physical offense techniques!  LOL  Well, sort of.  Anyway, Charles is alone on this episode so brace yourselves for a lecture way over an hour again.  Charles reviews 12 physical tactics that can be used to cause emergency room level injuries to your assailant in order for you to escape or to stop the threat.  This episode goes very well with episode 024 in which we discuss Non-Combative Techniques, and episode 042 where we talk about defensive / protective techniques.  With the 024, 042, 069 episode combo, you should have generally all the techniques you will ever need... besides specialized scenarios.  So there you go all you technique fanatics out there.  Sorry, but in the scope of violence response training, physical techniques aren't that big in the picture.  And remember, your fighting spirit and righteous rage will determine about 60 to 70% of how effective your physical fighting back response will be.  only about a third of your physical response success is based on your knowledge and mastery of particular physical techniques.  Let me know what you think guys!
