Sun, 30 November 2008 Part 2 of 2 - Kelly Rudolph talks about FAST Defense. Kelly joins us again after attending a weekend long FAST Defense seminar. We had recommended she attend a FAST Defense class because she had never done so. After she got back from the seminar, she called us to express her reactions. Instead, I suggested that we record her reactions on a show or two. Needless to say, she loved the training. If you would like to find a FAST Defense class in your area, checkout http://www.fastdefense.com and if you want to learn more about Kelly Rudolph and Survive Self-Defense, please visit http://www.survivesd.com Please be sure and give us a review on the iTunes Store! Also, our 100th episode is approaching, so email us your comments. What were your favorite moments in the past 100 shows? What do you suggest we do in the future? We’ll make the 100th episode about the listeners!Comments[0] |

Sun, 16 November 2008 Part 3 of 3 - Interview with Lee Sinclair of I’m Worth Defending. Lee Sinclair is responsible for going to Kenya and starting an organization to teach self-defense to woman. The rape rate in Kenya is extraordinarily high. Lee brought some self-defense instructors with her to Kenya to train a select group of Kenyan Instructors, so they in turn could train the woman of Kenya. When we heard about this mission, we knew we had to ask her on the show. Since Lee spent almost 2.5 hours of her time with us, we decided to split the interview up into 3 shows. If you would like to support what Lee is doing, visit her organization’s website http://www.imworthdefending.org and checkout the videos and donation section. Please be sure and give us a review on the iTunes Store! Also, our 100th episode is approaching, so email us your comments. What were your favorite moments in the past 100 shows? Sun, 14 September 2008 Part 2 of Sexual Assault and Rape. Christie and I continue where we left off in episode 086. If you haven’t listened to that episode, be sure and do so first. In this second part we talk about supporting a victim of sexual assault, advice for men on understanding what constitutes sexual assault, and protecting yourself from poisoning / being drugged for the purposes of sexual assault. We will return on episode 088 with some real life news stories related to sexual assault to round out this subject. Thanks for being loyal listeners to our show! Please let us know what you think by contacting us!Comments[0] |
Sun, 7 September 2008 Part 1 of Sexual Assault and Rape. Christie and I recorded about 90 minutes on this subject, so I split it into two episodes. This is the first part, and the second part will be episode 087. In this part, we talk about the definitions of Sexual Assault and Rape, and the feelings that a victim would feel and/or go through. If you noticed a difference in the recording sound, that’s because we are recording on a new digital recorder. I may have to play with some of the settings over the next couple of episode to get them just right, so bare with us. Please let us know what you think about the show. We love hearing from our listeners.Comments[0] |
Sun, 31 August 2008 Part 2 of 2 on damaging techniques. A continuation of episode 084, Charles discusses 3 Low Blows techniques and 3 Fierce Fingers techniques. If you haven’t listened to episode 084, make sure you check that out first. These 9 techniques (in episode 084 and 085) make up the bulk of what you will need to inflict violence and injury upon the person attacking you. The last part of this episode talks about VITAL Self-Defense’s plans to create and sell a modular DVD home study program. If you don’t want to hear about all that, stop listening around 40 minutes into the show. Please let us know what you think of the show!Comments[0] |
Sat, 23 August 2008 Part 1 of 2 about damaging techniques. In this episode we discuss the Heavy Hitter techniques of Hammer, Palm, and Elbow. Although the physical fighting back techniques are NOT the most important topic in self-defense, they are valuable to learn about and a good addition to your self-defense portfolio. Charles is alone on this episode because Christie is visiting family down south. Please check out the next episode, show 085 for part 2 of 2 on the topic of damaging techniques. Feel free to contact us with any questions or comments. We always love hearing from our listeners!Comments[0] |
Sun, 17 August 2008 A continuation of the episode 081 topic of ensuring justice. We talk about the President’s Task Force on Violent Crime’s recommendations for making sure the legal system doesn’t re-victimize or further victimize the person who was the target of crime. Although this episode is a bit on the dull side, the issues discussed are important should you ever find yourself in the legal aftermath of a violent crime. Since we felt like this episode dragged a bit, we will leave it up to our listeners if you want us to continue to talk about this topic in future episodes. It might be better if those who are interested look at the public report themselves. We’ll try and spice up the topic next time guys! Until then, let us know what you think by contacting us!Comments[0] |
Tue, 29 July 2008 Layered self-defense and VITAL Self-Defense’s Prevail Over Violence Model is the topic for this 82nd episode of the Self-Defense Show. Charles gives a bird’s eye view of the whole of our approach to accounting for violence in an ordinary person’s life. He talks about the 30 layers of a comprehensive self-defense education. There are 10 layers before the violence, 10 layers that apply during the violent incident, and 10 aftermath layers. This is a general overview of the philosophical and/or theoretical framework VITAL Self-Defense employs to educate people in personal protection. We hope this brings some structure and context to the various topics we discuss on the show. We have covered many of the 30 topics in much greater detail in previous episodes. This is not meant to be an in-depth description, but merely a table of contents so to speak. Please let us know if you feel we have missed a topic, or are off-base in any way. We love hearing from our listeners.Comments[0] |
Mon, 21 July 2008 After surviving, your legal battle begins. We talk about victim law in the US justice system and how it has changed over the past 25 years. We used the 1983 President’s Task Force on the Victims of Crime as our guide to discuss some of the way the Criminal’s Justice System can further violate a victim of crime. Although there have been great improvements to the laws and procedures we discuss in this episode, we still have a long way to go. Knowing where we have come from, and what rights we were lacking 25 years ago will help us be stronger in our legal self-defense. If you think that your struggles are over once that thug hits the deck via your awesome punch, your in store for a rude awakening. The next 12 to 24 months of your life could be 10x worse than the actual incident itself. We are sure to come back to this subject and have multiple parts because this topic is way too huge to cover in one show alone. Make sure you tell us your story. We love hearing from our listeners!Comments[0] |
